5 Things Bulldogs Should Know About the Fall 2020 Semester

Published on
July 30, 2020

  1. All students are required to be tested for COVID-19 no more than 7 days prior to coming on campus.

Students will not be permitted to move on campus or attend Union College or the activities if:

  • A negative COVID-19 test result within the past 7 days has not been submitted
  • Student and/or their guests have a temperature of 100.4 or above
  • Noncompliance with Kentucky laws of wearing face masks covering nose and mouth in public areas at all times while on campus

***Please scroll to the bottom of the page for information for area testing sites and/or hotels in the area provided to assist our students and their families.

If you test positive for COVID-19 do NOT report to campus. Instead, please contact James Becknell, Dean of Students at james.becknell@unionky.edu. Accommodations will be made for you.

2. Everyone at Union College, including students, will be required to follow local, state and national health orders. That means:

    • Wearing mask and face coverings
    • Maintaining physical distance of six feet
    • Staying home/in your dorm if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
    • Completing a daily health screening using the LiveSafe app.

3. Masks will be required

    • Masks or face coverings will be required in ALL Union College buildings and facilities including: classrooms, common spaces, study labs/rooms
    • Masks are not required when in individual room/apartment

4. Classes will be delivered in-person and online

    • An online option is available for any student not comfortable with an in person setting. Contact advising@unionky.edu for accommodations.
    • Classrooms will be set up where social distancing can be met. Each classroom will be sanitized in between lectures.

5. Changes have been made to the academic calendar

    • Classes, including night classes, will begin on Wednesday, August 19, and will conclude Thursday, December 3rd.
    • We will have classes on Labor Day AND there will be no Fall Break. Those adjustments are being made so that students can take their final exams in person BEFORE leaving for Thanksgiving break which is pegged for November 23-25th.
    • To clarify, once you leave for Thanksgiving on November 23rd-you won’t return back to campus for in person classes. That final week of classes after Thanksgiving- will be conducted in an online format. You will meet with your professors-go over your final exams and wrap up the semester virtually.

Please continue to check your campus email regularly for more information, we also encourage you to check our COVID-19 page for updates.
